Navigating Google And Yahoo’s New Email Sender Requirements

Learn what Google & Yahoo’s upcoming email requirement changes mean for you.

In the ever-evolving landscape of digital communication, it's crucial to stay ahead of the game. Recently, Google and Yahoo announced significant changes aimed at cutting down on spam that are set to take effect in February 2024. Here's what you need to know and the steps Levitate has proactively taken to ensure these changes won’t affect your outreach.

Google and Yahoo’s New Requirements: A Shift in Email Dynamics

Starting February 2024, both Google and Yahoo are rolling out stricter requirements for senders dispatching 5,000 or more messages daily to Gmail and Yahoo accounts. This includes the necessity to authenticate outgoing emails, avoid sending unwanted or unsolicited content, and prioritize easy unsubscribe options for recipients.

Why This Matters:
  • Failure to comply may result in automatic email stoppage and potential repercussions for your email health and account standing.
  • Adhering to the 5,000-email limit is pivotal to maintaining a positive sender reputation.

What This Means for Levitate Customers

Because Levitate is built around the idea of authentic outreach focused on quality over quantity, these new requirements only affect less than 1% of our customers. In fact, Levitate’s proprietary emailing system, tried-and-tested subject lines, and award-winning content templates are already formatted to increase the chances of your messages landing directly in the inbox, mitigating your chances of being flagged as spam. So overall, these new requirements shouldn't be an issue for Levitate customers.

However, we’ve still chosen to implement some safeguards to be sure that the small number of Levitate customers who do send higher volume email campaigns aren’t flagged.

Levitate Changes:
  • As of December 2023, each account has an account wide limit of 5,000 emails per 24-hour period that applies to all outbound emails, plain text and HTML newsletters.
  • This daily limitation will supersede configured email provider limits— so, when your account as a whole (all users accounted for) has hit that 5K limit in a 24-hour period, sending will halt until that 24-hour period has expired. Daily send limits, and hourly send limits, by user will still apply.
How These Changes Help:
  • The motivation behind implementing an account wide limit is to further protect your email domain(s) when sending to larger groups— email providers like Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo keep a close eye on send volume, and applying a limit like this will provide a safeguard against being flagged as spam by your email provider or being locked out of your email account. At the end of the day, we want you to be able to send messages that look and feel authentic, without worrying about being flagged as spam, locked out of your email account, or having your email health negatively impacted.

The Levitate platform was designed with authenticity and personal-feeling communication at its core, so while other providers may struggle with these recent changes, our customers can rest easy and continue their usual marketing efforts, knowing that their network will keep receiving the helpful and thoughtful emails they’re used to getting.
